Halloween Weekend

Happy Halloween from my Halloween cuties!
Let the excitement begin...

What better way to kick off the festivities then to watch Daddy carve the pumpkin?!?!
Carving our BIG pumpkin with four ghosts. This pumpkin was two inches thick so Daddy had to really work for his cuts.
While Daddy worked on this I took the kids around to BOO a couple of houses. We were booed the night before by a phantom ghost who left treats at our door. The kids were so thrilled we had to keep the chain going so we happily hit up a couple more friends.

Ashlyn walked around and picked out her own candy. At first she didn't understand but by the end she was taking as much candy as the person let her and was putting it into her own bucket.

Tom is Luigi from Mario.
Olivia is Dora Princess.
Dylan is a pirate. He likes to be Caption Hook.
Ashlyn was Belle.

The trunk or treat was very hurried so that everyone could go home and watch the Cardinals win the World Series!!!
What an amazing and improbable journey for the Cardinals to win their eleventh Word Series!!

The next day was the elementary school's fall carnival. I forgot my camera so all I had from it was the kids' face paintings.

Since Halloween fell on a Monday this year and Olivia's school did NOTHING for Halloween this year I held off on trick or treating down Main Street until after school so Olivia could enjoy too.
She wanted to be Little Red Riding Hood because she wanted to wear the red cape. I warned her that people might not know what she was since all she was wearing was a cape. So Olivia went around asking everyone if they knew who she was. They all guessed correctly or turned the question around on her and asked her to tell them. In the spirit of changing things up a bit I dressed Ashlyn in her second costume too. She was a fairy instead.

Olivia was thrilled when they asked her to come up and be a part of the show!!

It was a pretty funny production and the kids really felt involved in getting to shape the story. Two thumbs up from Mommy.

We got home just in time to sit out on the porch and pass out candy to trick-or-treaters.
The kids were so wired they were literally shouting in mere excitement and running up to the trick-or-treaters to put candy in their bags.

We lit up our pumpkin for the night.
