More Weekend Fun

October is one of the funnest months for our family as we have so many traditions that we look forward to every year. 

First off this weekend was the school carnival which is always a big hit.

Tom took Olivia and Dylan as I didn't think I'd be up for it. They both had a lot of fun and earned some fun prizes.  Olivia did amazingly well at some of the games and earned some bigger prizes, like a mini-basketball from the basket-toss game and a slingshot-rocket from the "Feed the Penguins" game which she gave to Dylan (who was sad that he wasn't doing as well).  She is such a thoughtful big sister! 
A couple of highlights each year:  
1. Face Painting 2. Fingernail polish...

 Dylan insisted on getting an orange ladybug for his face painting, and this is what the artist came up with.  She did a wonderful job on both kids.

 3. Bounce Houses, Slides, and Obstacle courses...

Dylan told us he was completely "worn out" by the time he was done with the inflatables.  On the obstacle course, Dylan saw some older boys jumping over the sides to go back through the course so he tried it, too, until he slipped and got stuck between the sides.  Tom had to go in to rescue him.  After that, Dylan stayed away from the obstacle course and just played on the slide and the bouncy house.

 4. Balloon sculptures.

 Another Fall tradition is getting a family picture in front of our Red Maple so we braved the chill to the air and stood for our picture.

Our third Fall weekend tradition was the carving and painting of the pumpkins which I think has been the HARDEST for the kids to wait for.

 Dylan is painting his pumpkin his favorite color: yellow.

 Olivia is excited to carve her pumpkin, but she thought the insides were "disgusting."

 Tom doesn't mind sticking his hands into the pumpkins.

 Ashlyn got in on the pumpkin painting with globs and globs of purple paint.  She added a little pink for variety.

 Dylan now has the yellowest pumpkin we've ever seen.

 Tom, of course, had to be fancy.  This is the triforce symbol from the Legend of Zelda.  Tom is quite pleased with himself this year. Didn't he do an awesome job?
