BIG BOY BED

We have thought about getting Dylan into a big boy bed but we wanted to focus on potty training first. Well, Dylan has been doing awesome at that and to top it off he is actually staying dry at night.

We have considered letting him wear his undies to bed but we wanted him in his big boy bed first. So last night we stopped putting it off and got out the big boy bed.

We were given this bed by a friend so it has been waiting in the wings until Dylan was ready. We were very unsure how this would go. Dylan LOVES to get into Olivia and our bed and we know how big he wants to be BUT he has had a very negative 2 year old "NO" attitude lately so this was either going to be easy or really hard.
(Olivia was HARD - so we had BAD memories of how this might go.)

Dylan was very interested in helping Daddy and soon Olivia got in on the action.

Dylan ran upstairs and we didn't know why. Pretty soon he came back down stairs with his pillow and blanket.

Dylan trying to sleep on the frame while Daddy continues to work. Sadly it didn't work very well but Dylan was very persistent and tried very hard to find a comfortable spot that he wouldn't fall through.

Amazingly enough as we brought the bed upstairs Olivia insisted Dylan sleep in her room. She wanted Dylan to sleep in his bed next to hers. We weren't expecting this at all and so we explained to Olivia that Dylan will be so excited to sleep in his new bed and if he is also excited to sleep in Olivia's room he would be too excited to go to sleep. It was very sweet.

Dylan getting his stuffed animals just so.

Dylan was actually very concerned why Daddy was taking the crib apart. I guess the new is exciting but the old is hard to let go of.

Laying down!! Look at that smile!!
He is excited!!

All tucked in.
Good night Dylan.

He actually stayed in bed and went to sleep. We were amazed.
We checked on him several times throughout the night. He never fell out of bed.
AND the icing on the cake. He woke up dry.
This morning when he came into our room he announced "I Woke Up!" He was so pleased he announced to all of us that he woke up at least twenty times this morning.
He was so PROUD!
