So, back on Christmas Eve we discovered water in our basement. Now that we've got a sump pump installed, no more water is coming in, so now we can worry about cleaning up. Well, as you can guess, three plus months of water on the floor wasn't good for the drywall, and we discovered mold on the drywall, on the studs, the door, and the insulation. So, it all had to come out. Well, hopefully not everything, but as you can see quite a bit did get demolished.

What do you think? We only had to take out the walls on the bottom half of the wall, which means only half the work, right???

Another view of the play room. The side wall had two sheets of drywall back to back, meaning it took twice as much work and several hours to do that one wall. Friends came over to help with the other two walls and took those down in less than an hour. The insulation on the back wall was wet and moldy all the way up to where we took the drywall off, but at least it wasn't any higher.

Here's the new pump. It works great so far. We even know the alarm works if the power goes out. We're getting a backup soon, just in case.

We were able to keep part of the laundry wall's insulation. We also had to take the door down. Maybe now we can paint it white. The big piece is the frame from the entryway into the playroom.

Doesn't he look thrilled! Still need to clean up, scrub the studs for mold, then start putting it all back together.

Oh, I am so sorry. That is terrible. It's nice to have a handy husband so it doesn't cost as much as it could. Good job Tom. I wish we were closer so we could help. I bet that mold hasn't been great for Tom or Dylan. I am glad to hear the sump pump is working though. Maybe this is all you'll have to do.
Oh wow... big project in the works! I do not envy you guys right now. We hope everything goes smoothly!
