We started out day two in Nauvoo by attending sacrament meeting and sleeping in. Then we headed back to Old Nauvoo to see more sites. Our first stop was to look and take pictures at the Nauvoo Temple.
Papa and Grammy Lee with their grandkids.
1st Old Nauvoo stop - the brick yard.
Old Nauvoo is quite a bit different since my childhood in that most everything is air conditioned and most presentations are inside and more of a description rather then a demonstration.
Old School House
Olivia looks rather confused. I think she's glad she doesn't have to go to school back then.
Dylan wrote his name.
Ashlyn was tired at this point. Papa was just the right comfort she was wanting.
Then we saw the black smith shop were they did demonstrate how to make a horse shoe and the kids still get to take home a prairie diamond ring.
Then on to the bakery.
Then on to their drug and mercantile store.
Where we learned about the saying the whole nine yards - meaning you want to buy the whole bolt of fabric.
One of the last stops was a Print Shop.
Before things closed for the day we watched a movie back at the visitors center. When the movie was done we found Dylan asleep next to Papa.
While Dylan slept the kids played in the statue garden again.
This photo is so funny. Ashlyn came over to Scottie and saw him standing with his feet apart looking at a butterfly so she tried to stand with her feet apart like him.
Olivia chasing Scottie for huggies. As you can see she did get him.
Dylan woke up in time for some more pictures in the garden.
The humidity was making Ashlyn's hair super curly.
We had such a wonderful time in Nauvoo. It was such a calm relaxing place to spend time with our family. The things we looked at were very practical in nature but they continually related the topics to a spiritual concept. The kids learned so much about faith and about the life of those early church members. I think they are very very glad that they live at this time and I think they loved all the family time.
