The first weekend that we had Aunt Amanda and cousin Scottie with us we took the kids to Nauvoo, IL. This is the first time we have taken our kids and we were excited to show them some of the Nauvoo sites I will always remember seeing as a kid.
The first was the Visitors Center and the Statue Garden.
Then we took their Carriage ride to Inspiration Point.
This was a first for all of us so we enjoyed the stories and then the spiritual moments about the ride.
I'd highly recommend this if you go to Nauvoo.
The kids thought it was AWESOME that this horse's name is Tom.
The next thing we did was in the Family Center where the kids could see the process of making bread, ropes, rugs, and candles.
Dylan got to help make the rope by turning the wheel and Olivia got to cut the finished tied off rope.
Then they got to take this rope home and other example ropes were handed out so Scottie got a rope too.
Ready to go play pioneer pastime games.
The other things we did this day was to see a Gunsmith Shop.
Then after dinner we saw a show put on by the couple missionaries serving in Nauvoo called Rendezvous in Old Nauvoo.
Kids got to set in the front row. Our three kids were the only ones in the front row.
After the show two of the missionaries let my kids put on their hats.
Then we headed back to the hotel for some swimming.
Ashlyn and I stayed behind at this point. We weren't feeling well and Ashlyn needed desperately to sleep.
It started out as a rough night away from home but after taking a nap and being up for a while once everyone got back from swimming she eventually laid down and slept through the night for us.
My parents also came about this time and got to see the kids swimming and play at the room with the kids before bed.
